Do you hate shady internet marketers as much as I do?

Thought so… truth is, most of them are just peddling crap.

What’s crazy though, is some of them are KILLING IT online.

Why?

Because they figured out how to sell.

Ethics aside, they figured out how to get massive amounts of traffic to their offer, and present in a way that gets people to part with their money.

Shady?

You betcha… but before you judge, ask yourself how they’re doing that?!

What can you learn from them?

When I was building Clarity, I realized I had some of the most talented and integrity driven internet marketers on our platform.

I discovered them because they were driving a ton of calls at a high price point.

When I reached out to learn more about their business, I was blown away with the sophistication of their marketing / sales programs.

They nailed it AND there was a system for how they thought about the business.

I then started implementing some of their approaches in Clarity, and we got the results.

That’s why I wanted to share this with you …

… it’s the 7 strategies startup entrepreneurs can learn from some of the world’s best internet/ marketers.

Here’s a short-list of the most powerful things I learned:

– Funnels: Up sell, down sell, cross sell
– Promotional partnerships: JV’s, affiliates, launches, etc..
– Focus: One customer avatar
– Copywriting: landing pages, email, blog post, native ads
– Email marketing, goodwill, don’t stop
– Paid acquisition (any channel, remarking, etc)
– Earn the right: value first, build trust, make an offer

Be sure to watch the video to learn the in’s and out’s of each of these strategies.

My bet is that if you implement any of these 7, your revenue will grow.

Insanely grateful to have you part of the community!

With gratitude,

– Dan

ABOUT DAN MARTELL
=====================

“You can only keep what you give away.” That’s the mantra that’s shaped Dan Martell from a struggling 20-something business owner in the Canadian Maritimes (which is waaay out east) to a successful startup founder who’s raised more than $3 million in venture funding and exited not one… not two… but three tech businesses: Clarity.fm, Spheric and Flowtown.

You can only keep what you give away. That philosophy has led Dan to invest in 33+ early stage startups such as Udemy, Intercom, Unbounce and Foodspotting. It’s also helped him shape the future of Hootsuite as an advisor to the social media tour de force.

An activator, a tech geek, an adrenaline junkie and, yes, a romantic (ask his wife Renee), Dan has recently turned his attention to teaching startups a fundamental, little-discussed lesson that directly impacts their growth: how to scale. You’ll find not only incredible insights in every moment of every talk Dan gives – but also highly actionable takeaways that will propel your business forward. Because Dan gives freely of all that he knows. After all, you can only keep what you give away.

  1. From my experience with startups, many turn away from the strategies that Internet Marketers are doing from a "Not Invented Here" mentality. The dismiss it as scammy/spammy so they don't have to learn the business fundamentals.

Too many would rather stay in their SV-generated bubble of ideas and "best" practices.

It's important to learn what works and more importantly, WHY it works. Then implement pieces of it in a non-shady way.

    Great video, Dan.

  3. Before you dismiss someone as shady, look at their results. Then ask how they’re accomplishing them? Here’s 7 marketing & sales strategies every startup should borrow from shady internet marketers.
