The Startup Tapes chronicle the highs & lows of building a startup, through candid interviews with founders, operators & advisors. Tim Anglade, an Executive-in-Residence at Scale Venture Partners and formerly with Realm, Apigee, and Cloudant leads the project with the goal to de-mystify the process through which startups emerge, grow & succeed. His unfiltered interviews transcribe the conversations we often hear in the boardroom, amongst our portfolio community and with entrepreneurs and partners we engage with every day.

  1. This VP VC is an idiot and just regurgitating acronyms that she learned when she was an intern before the rich CEO made her a VP of their small VC firm that is trying to be a big VC firm with really only like 3 employees.

  3. This is good, but I thought A/R was accounts receivable. It is of course good that it rises, but I guess only if the startup has a good collections policy? Would not also 'Sales' really mean CoGS?

  4. I dont know how I got here but this VC is Hot. In unrelated turn of events, I'm craving sweet and sour pork with Chow faan

  5. She doesn't sound nervous when SHE talks, but when the guy talks she keeps saying YES YES YES YES YES like she's never been on camera or had a conversation before.

  6. I don't see how someone gets to be a VC setting conditions to companies they fund and dishing out sage advice when they have absolutely zero experience in starting something from nothing and building it up to success.
I get that she has a good education and some experience in banks but surely VC firms should be staffed out by partners who have created something and fought in the trenches and sacrificed and suffered to get success.
If I had a company that was taking money from a VC or was putting money into a VC fund I would want people who have repeatedly built something from nothing in charge.

  7. Incredibly valuable feedback, thanks for posting this – I think Startups rarely get a view from the INSIDE.

  8. Really good and insightful video! Please do make another one, where you run through the actual calculations of a startup once you have all the data.
