Apple Open Sources Its Swift Programming Language

Swift, the new programming language for iOS and OS X app development Apple announced at WWDC 2014 a year ago, is going open-source. Apple senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi said on stage at WWDC 2015 in San Francisco on Monday, “We’re stepping on the gas this year with Swift 2. We think Swift should be everywhere and used by everyone.” By open sourcing Swift, developers will be able to add onto the language and help accelerate its adoption.
