More and more international students are coming to the US for school. These students want to practice their English and interact with Americans so their transition to the states is smoother. Problem: they don’t know any Americans to practice their English with. That’s where you (American students) come in.
You give the international students a rare opportunity to practice their English with their actual peers – people that they’ll be going to class with, playing on sports teams with, or even applying to jobs with. They’ll learn a lot more than how to speak American English correctly by talking to you; they’ll learn what homecoming is, who the heck is The Bachelor, why Oregon football is the best (not), where “oooo killem” is from, and a whole lot more. They can’t learn this stuff from 50-year-old English tutors – only from you.
That’s why we started Merch. We saw a need that we knew we could meet by connecting two worlds. China boasts the highest number for international students these days that’s why we are focusing on Chinese students first.
