  1. Would like to mention if anyone's starting a product based business crowd funding (indiegogo / kickstarter) is also a great option while maintaining full control. Tons of success stories and resources online to learn from.

  2. To answer your question… Don't raise money! (for online businesses). Bootstrap it and "then" scale with your profits.
    If you can't demonstrate that you can generate a profit… why would you raise money.
    Hopeing, "more money" will make profits?
    That's how investers get screwed.
    I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule though
