TEDxRainier – Joe Justice – WikiSpeed

Joe Justice applies current software development principles to manufacture, achieving extraordinary results in designing a high efficiency and high performance automobile.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

  1. Thinking to build the next generation of farm tractor : We need it in Europe !
Farm tractors are very expensive and sold with many useless opinions.
And these Farm Tractors could be developpe inside of CUMA. (CUMA are an regroupment of some farmers to buy them specific equipments).

  2. Interesting talk, but I wonder how many of the Wikispeedsters know anything about scaling out for mass production.  If they tried to setup mass production they would run into the problem they illustrated where the cost of a  mold for a door has to be amortized over several years.  They avoid that now by building one car at at time.

The agile processes that they borrowed from software development teams are typically used on small teams of less than a dozen engineers.  And of course developing software is far different from mass production or any other manufacturing process.  It is well suited for building prototypes, but there's a big difference between a prototype and a large scale production system.

  3. I 'm inspired and like play with the idea and implement it. I mean the step further to solve something, something political, any callers?

  4. goosebumps! amazing what a team of people can do together with the simple ideas supporting Agile methodologies. Don't stop!!!!

  5. It would be a shame for you not to get extra cash when these normal people can make extra cash so easily with Intellitus Cash System (Go Google it).

  6. this is brilliant, with guys like this around- i wonder why the FUCK we even bailed out GM. Its people like this guy's turn to take the future of automotive. make a car cheaper than an ipod, and i'll buy it.

  7. living off the system and being bum? What is your definition of someone not living off the system? because as I can see, we all are dependent on the system for our welfare. Business Owners depend on the money of consumers, and the labors of their employees, while employees depend on the income provided by the business owners. To me, EVERYONE lives off the system! You sound like a Republican!

  8. actually……"Food Based Dinner" is not a ridiculous consideration given the current issues involving synthetic derived "food substances" such as nutrasweet, etc. Can we safely say that all the food available on the market is "food based"?

  9. Is that your only example??

Contrast that with the millions of mama's boys out there living off the system being bums

  10. Well… it's so bad that in some countries you can't drive a car like this. Bureaucracy ruining the innovation in action… :(

  11. And if you haven't heard…….Women are usually the healers and producers of a civilization while men are the destroyers and consumers!

  12. mama's boys? Some of the greatest minds in the world are actually mama's boys! Have you heard of Grigori Perelman? He's Field Medalist (highest award in Mathematics) is a Bum that still lives with his mom, but guess what? He's the Greatest Mathematician in the world! Maybe we need more Mama's boys to run this world and it would be alot better place!
