Disruptive business: Paypal’s Peter Thiel on technology entrepreneurs

In his upcoming book, “Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future,” Peter Thiel looks back on his own experience as a startup investor and a cofounder of PayPal and Palantir to draw lessons about successful entrepreneurship and innovation. Thiel argues that successful people find value in unexpected places and that entrepreneurs and society benefit most when businesses create something new rather than copy existing models.

In this event — the first in a series on disrupters in the tech sector — Thiel will discuss these ideas and others with AEI’s James Glassman. This conversation, followed by an audience Q&A, will give the audience a unique peek into the mind of one of the most successful tech entrepreneurs of our time.

Disruptive Business: PayPal’s Peter Thiel Discusses Technology, Startups and Entrepreneurship

  1. Smart as Peter Thiel is, there are people who are much more intelligent than him and nowhere as rich. It is a Thatcherite/Reaganite falsehood to claim that a person is worth the money they keep in this world. I wonder if all these billionaires are intelligent enough to understand that Israel did 9/11? If so, why aren't they doing anything?

  2. 51:34 Thiel just goes on a tirade that this is a "supply problem" and that anyone has to be nuts to think this is a demand problem (ie — the consumer is saturated in ads, spending too much, spending more than should with saving non-existent in the US); the guest on the very next question, in the next second then goes on to ask about what to do, since this is a demand problem?!

    that was bizarre…

  3. A single attempt at closing a Paypal account will tell you enough about why you shouldn't take advice from this man.
