Summary of this Tutorial:

The first method is to translate your site yourself using the polylang plugin.

Start by installing and activating the polylang plugin.

go to Settings, Language to configure the plugin.

You have three tabs to deal with, the language tab lets you add the languages to use.

Under strings translation tab you’ll add the site title, description and date and time to use.

Finally you see the settings tab and this is where you choose your default language as well as the URL structure.

We recommend that you keep the first selection so that if you ever disable the plugin it will not break your links.

You can even set it to detect browser preferred languages.

The other method to translate would be to use the Google Language Translator plugin.

After installing and activating the plugin go to Settings, Google Language Translator to configure.

You can check each box to pick which languages to show on your site.

  1. I'm pretty happy that I've used my "money back" guarantee for WPML last year… which I was paying 200 bucks for a lifetime license. This is half the price for the premium version and way better for page speed optimization and SEO. It's still a very powerfull translation plugin but has also a much better GUI. Like somebody else said here… "So good it hurts". :D

  2. Thank you very much. You showed it very briefly and I love that 🙂 BTW it's awesome that on WordPress it is so quick and easy. I configured multiple languages on Joomla this week and it took much longer ;)

  3. i have a problem <<<
when i activate the polylang plugin all my data like slide image on website is gone !!!
    i need a help pls ..

  4. Can I use it to translate Woocommerce "stuff". like things on the Pages that woocommerce creates and for example the "Sale" tag

  5. I don't have the ''plugin link'' does it requires the pro version or its available on the free also? thanks

  6. helpful video!!, But how about for the local languages which are not listed in the polylang language list?

  7. Can I set up my own fictional languages? The reason is that I want to make a Polish-Polish site with news in the same language but from a different point of view. I was able to do that in Joomla but with a lot of hacking… and it broke after update.
