Video Summary:
Motivation is within your own power to create. It isn’t handed out willy-nilly by the universe. To get motivated, you need something to inspire you. The only way to identify what will inspire you is to do the introspective work to get to know yourself really well. Learn what you’re passionate about, and chart a course for a cause outside of yourself — your own personal vision.

Is your motivation for achieving your vision extrinsic or intrinsic? Are you motivated to it by “carrot and stick” consequences, or the mere hope of tangible gain? Or is it intrinsic, a vision based on your values, that is burning in your core, demanding fulfillment? Extrinsic motivation is superficial and typically less enduring. If you’re counting on extrinsics to keep you motivated, you may cycle up and down. Your motivation will be more steady if you shift your motivation to intrinsic — to values that are more in line with your psyche.

Spend the time and energy to be clear about your vision. If you lack confidence in your vision, introspect to determine why that might be. Do you need to better clarify the specifics of your vision, or do you need to find a new one about which you can be passionate?

  1. Thank you so much for this video! I've been struggling my whole life with keeping motivation. I give up to easily. After watching this I finally Understand how to keep my motivation and why and where it comes from. I always try to look at the positive side and I always try to keep my head up but I just haven't had a strong enough will. So thank you(:

  4. yeah, really good to tell an un-motivated person that to get motivation you need to work hard

  5. It's obvious that you have studied a tremendous amount of psychology and personal development material (and that you're passionate about it) because the way you articulate stuff is on another level. You're making most personal development gurus look a bit boring and scattered while you are hitting on points with great depth and specificity. Great work.

  6. Stopped looking after a while. It's very interesting to know al this but it irritates me that you always look sideways. One you noticed, you always do. Try to work on that!

  7. I'm an architecture student, when I started in this course, I'm so motivated, I was like "This is what I'm gonna do for the rest of my life, and I'll be great", and then afterwards, I learned that I don't know much about architecture, and when I realized I don't have much talent like my classmates, which by the way are sons and daughters of architects or engineers and such, and I was the only one who didn't came from a family who are in that kind of profession, I lose my motivation, and I know it's because I became an insecure bitch, tho I'm still in this course, btw I'm in my third year, and I'm just floating, I have great ideas with my projects and I get excited about it then I ended up not finishing it or passing it late, I'm still in this course, and this is my last chance to prove myself that this is what I want, I could've failed last sem, but my professors gave me last chance, and now, I'm still fucking up… I want to stop procrastinating, being lazy, I ended up thinking maybe I'm just not motivated… what do you think?

  8. My life feels like a chain I know what I want to do but then I get the annoying voice inside my head says "be realistic you honestly think you can achieve something that big !"

P.S my goal is to figure the solution to global warming
