I attended a hangout today hosted jointly by +Karl Hughes and +Christian Reyes. The guest was +Alan Dabbiere who is the chairman of air-watch.com. Alan was an eloquent speaker and he talks about the challenge of running a "real" company with "real" revenue potentials, against bubble companies that are well funded by venture capitalists. Alan is not against taking VC money, he said so in the hangout. I believe he is against taking VC money as R&D money, before one has a proven business and a proven revenue model. It is the difference between building a company by focusing on value-creation as opposed to valuation. Spend your time chasing money from your customers, not money from your investors.
