I passed trough all that pain before I find your video because usualy that
kind of usb stuff to computer program comunication works better in windows
than linux but I was completely wrong
-works very well on linux opensuse 13.1 (it should also work on other
versions and distros)

your correct, my bad, it actually did that for me automatically in my first
try, it just looked different. it displayed the way you displayed it..

I’ll make a video on this tonight or tomorrow, but try this: F=143.350
(repeater output freq) Tone Mode = Tone, Tone = 123.0, Duplex = +, Offset =
2.855. Freq is where you want to listen, Duplex is the direction you want
the transmitter to shift, and Offset is how much you want it to shift (in
MHz) when you transmit. 2.855 = 146.205 – 143.350. Give that a shot and see
if it works. Don’t worry about the DTCS stuff.
In CHIRP… If you can give examples of different types of entries as well
for clarity for us amature radio guys… i tried the example above with odd
split example, but every time i save and recall it would change. i entered
the following: F=143.350, T/M=Tone, Tone=123, CT=Tone>Tone, Duplex=split,
Offset=146.205… is this correct? and when i save it and then recall it on
the CHIRP Software it defaults to something else… i must not be inputting
correctly… Thanks again…
Great! Sounds like it may have been auto-updating the driver, or you just
got lucky and “the right stuff” got deleted from your previous install(s),
and something just “took.” Such is Windows.

split. EX:143.350 split to 146.205 PL 123 no offset or with offset.. thanks

ok… i got it to work. turned off my internet connection. then i
un-installed the driver. then installed it. followed your steps to locate
in device manager. installed the driver manually. it did not give me the
error again. plugged radio in launched chirp and worked on the first try.
sweet. the trick for me on this computer is to disconnect any internet
connection at all times when using chirp.
After some further digging, it looks like this may be an issue with the
particular chip you have in your cable. You may want to try to find and
install Version 3.3.2.102 of the Prolific Driver, as it seems folks are
having luck with it in Win8.
i constantly get a “Code 10” windows encountered an error during
installation.. i followed the steps and still get this message every time?
For which installation (the USB driver or CHIRP)–and when during the
installation? Where did you get your driver install file?
great video. still having a hard time getting windows 8 to load and
recognize driver for device. help
You want to make sure you’re using the 3.2.0.0 driver, and that windows
isn’t automatically updating the driver behind your back (turn off Auto
Update for the Prolific device only). Another issue may be that the driver
is linked to a specific USB port–it won’t follow the cable if you plug it
into a different slot. I don’t have a Win8 machine to test on, so I’m
limited, but I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
